global women artist collectives of the 20th century - Hall W. Rockefeller

Wednesday, March 9, 2022

20:00 - 21:00 GMT (Central European Time)

We will celebrate women’s month learning about the history and the meaning of women artist collectives with Hall W. Rockefeller.
From the Suffrage Atelier at the turn of the 20th century in England—which used art to advance a first wave feminist cause—to the all-women group exhibitions in the 1990s in China— which rejected Western ideas of feminism, but still sought creative equality—women artists have often mobilized to advance their own work when the rest of the world has refused to do so. This talk will provide an overview of 20th century global initiatives spear-headed by women in order to gain respect and recognition for their groundbreaking art.
